Terms and Conditions

Darfield Artweek 2023 — Conditions of Entry

Art Entries: Original artworks in any medium are invited. Artwork must be recent work of the artist and shall not have been pieces shown previously in Selwyn.

Conditions of Sale: All entries must be for sale and must stay on display for the duration of the exhibition.

Categories: There are four categories for artwork:
(1) Hung Artwork: Two entries per artist
(2) Three dimensional & other works: Three entries per artist
(3) Miniatures: Four entries per artist
(4) Jewellery: Five pieces per artist (all jewellery will be displayed in cases)

Maximum size of artwork: Artwork must be no greater than 95cm wide x 150cm high including frame. Diptych and Triptych combined mounted area must meet this limit. Maximum size of miniature: painted area to be no greater than 8,000 sq.mm (e.g. 80mm x 100mm).
MCAC will refuse works that exceed these size limits.

Prints and Photographs must be numbered as one of a series.

Commission: 28.75% (25% plus GST) of the stated selling price will be deducted from all sales.

Entry Fees: $30 first item, maximum fee $40 per category (GST inclusive)

Payment may be made by EFTPOS at Te Huanui (17 South Terrace, Darfield).
Cheques are no longer accepted.

Online Entry Form to be completed at www.malvernarts.org.nz/artweek, or paper entry form available at Te Huanui Art Gallery in Darfield, if required. Entries close: Friday, 29 September 2023. Late entries may not be accepted.

Delivery of artworks:

(a) In person directly to Darfield Recreation Centre, Darfield between 2pm and 4pm or between 6pm and 7pm on Wednesday, 4 October. All packaging must be removed on delivery. Please return with it on collection. OR

(b) Freight: Freighted works must include prepaid return COURIER POST tickets in a named envelope. All packaging must be reusable and clearly labeled with return address for return of artworks. Freighted works must be received by Tuesday, 3 October and consigned to:
Artweek Entry, c/- Meg Morten, 29 Churchlea Place, Darfield, 7510

Collection: All work must be collected either on Sunday, 15 October between 4.30 and 5.30pm OR Monday, 16 October between 9am and 10am OR have return freight prepaid enclosed in and envelope. Collection of artworks will NOT be allowed during the exhibition.
Work will NOT be released until 4.30pm, Sunday 15 October

Insurance: While every care will be taken, MCAC or its members accepts no liability for any loss or damage. Insurance during transit and at the exhibition is the sole responsibility of the artist.

Display: All artwork must be dry and suitably presented for display. Hung work must be complete with cord. D rings with cord are suitable for hanging.
Note: Please NO eyelets or protruding fittings. Any specific instruction regarding display should be attached to the artwork.
MCAC will refuse works that do not comply with these conditions.

Labeling: Name, phone number of exhibitor, title, medium, and selling price must be printed on the back or securely attached to the exhibit.

Selection: The Malvern Community Arts Council (MCAC) reserves the right to select entries. Non-compliance of conditions will result in rejection of work. The decision of the Artweek Committee is final.

2023 Art Awards: Premier Award of $2,000
A range of other significant awards will be confirmed on the website at a later date.

Award Winners: All exhibits will be judged prior to the opening, and, where possible, award winners will be notified by telephone so they may attend the opening night for presentation of the award. The Judge’s decision will be final. MCAC reserves the right to photograph and reproduce illustrations of selected works for publicity relating to the exhibition.

IMPORTANT DATES AND TIMES

Friday, 29 September: Final date for submissions

Tuesday, 4 October: Freighted works to be delivered by this date.

Wednesday, 5 October: Delivery of exhibits to Darfield Recreation Centre, North Terrace, Darfield, between 2pm and 4pm or 6pm and 7pm

Friday, 6 October, 7pm–9pm: Opening Night, Darfield Recreation Centre (tickets $25; Artists $15 include refreshments and catalogue)

Saturday, 7 October to Saturday, 15 October: Exhibition open 10.00am – 4.00pm (entry free—gold coin donations appreciated)

Sunday, 15 October: Collection of work from Darfield Recreation Centre, Darfield between 4.30pm and 5.30pm OR
Monday, 16 October: between 9am and 10am
